Scoutmaster's Corner

To the Troop of Eagles,

Boy, has Troop 90 grown!

What does a troop of this size need to do? It's simple....

Each and every one of us needs to live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law and fulfill our roles in the troop to the best of our ability. If you are part of the PLC you need to carry out your assigned tasks as you were taught and hand down that knowledge to the rest of the troop. If you are in the growing stages (below 1st Class) you need to ask for guidance and learn everything there is to know in Boy Scouting. Everyone should use the resources our troop has to offer; we have four Eagle scouts and two JASMs within our troop, not to mention a great number of Star and Life scouts; a very admiral position for our troop.

A large troop means more hands to help and bigger trips to plan. For example - who says we can't go to Summer Camp for two weeks. With a large number of scouts we could split the weeks amongst the adults and scouts and let some attend more than just one week. Or, instead of one Crew going to Sea base, we could have two or three, etc. These are just some scenarios that a larger troop (like ours) can handle. Think about all the stories and adventures we could talk about around the campfire.

Since we have a large roster of scouts, that means we have a large pool of adults to help out. The more the merrier I always say. Parents - don't think Boy Scouting is only for the boys, you too can have a lot of fun learning things that you never thought you would like. Unless we raise enough money to buy a bus, your help will be needed getting our scouts to and from the various trips they have planned. So parents - purchase that mess kit and sleeping bag and join us on some of our adventures. I guarantee you will have a lot of fun - right scouts !!!!!!

Being a scouter is for a lifetime, but being a Boy Scout is only for a short number of years. Embrace the program and get all you can out of it.

Troop 90 is the "Troop of Eagles!"
